A rally-raid competition was held in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan hosted the national motorsport championship in the "rally-raid" discipline, reported TV channel "MIR24".
Rally-raid Garagum ýalkymy (Shining Karakum) started from Damna village in the territory of Akhal velayat. Six teams participated in the championship.
The route of the championship was near the Ashgabat-Dashoguz highway. The cars covered a distance of 115 kilometers through the Karakum desert and finished in the village of Darvaza.
According to the organizers, most of the participants of the current championship are young people.
The racers overcame difficult parts of the desert and finished successfully.
The winner of the rally-raid was the team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The team of the state corporation "Turkmengaz" took second place. The third place went to the team of the Federation of Automobile Sports of Turkmenistan.
The winners and prize-winners were awarded diplomas and valuable gifts - products of the local electronics industry.
Rally-raid is a young sport for Turkmenistan. It started to develop only a few years ago. Despite this, in 2018, Turkmenistan successfully hosted the Amul-Khazar 2018 International Rally Rally - the largest off-road race in Asia. Its route ran along the historic Great Silk Road. The competition brought together professionals from more than 20 countries from France, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Czech Republic, Great Britain and others.
