The list of presidential candidates in Turkmenistan has been updated with new names. The Central Election Commission registered Babamyrat Meredov, a nominee of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (SPPT). He currently heads the Wepaly gurluşyk cooperative. The next registered candidate for the highest state post was Khydyr Nunnaev, supported by the Ashgabat initiative group. He is currently vice-rector for scientific work at the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports (TSIFS) and is a candidate of pedagogical sciences. The third of the newly registered nominees, Maksat Odeshov, was supported by a Dashoguz initiative group. He is the head of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan Committee from the Saparmurat Turkmenbashi etrap.
All candidates have higher education. B. Meredov graduated as a systems engineer and for some time was a computer science teacher at the Beki Seitakov Pedagogical School in Dashoguz. Nunnayev received his medical degree at the Indira Gandhi Medical School in the capital and found work in the country's health care system. After serving in the army, he entered the Tashkent State Medical University. Since 2003, he worked in a clinic in Tedjen etrap of Akhal velayat. In 2005, he began teaching at TSIFS, and in 2014 he became the vice-rector for scientific work at this university. He is characterized as a person leading a healthy way of life, responsive and loving work.
M.Odeshov is a deputy of the Majlis of the National Parliament of Turkmenistan of the 5th convocation. He received his higher education at the Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural Institute, from which he graduated in 2000. He graduated from the S.A. Niyazov Agricultural Institute in 2000. He graduated in 2000 as a mechanical engineer. He began his career at Saparmurat Turkmenbashi etrap in Dashoguz region, where he began to work at a telecommunications company. In 2002-2008, he worked at the regional governor's office of the region. In 2008, he became secretary of the etrap division of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, and in 2013 he was appointed head of the committee.
The first stage of the campaign for early presidential elections in Turkmenistan - the registration of candidates for the highest state office - has been completed. The Central Election Commission registered nine candidates, of whom three were nominees from political parties and six from citizens' initiative groups. Now the second phase of the campaign - campaigning for existing candidates - has started.
