Turkmenistan became a full member of the International Skating Union

The International Skating Union (ISU) has accepted Turkmenistan as a full member.
This decision was taken at the ISU meeting held in Geneva from 9 to 12 October, the newspaper "Turkmenistan" reported today.
"Turkmenistan has been an associate member of the International Skating Union since October 2019. Today to become a full member of this union. Turkmenistan's admission to ISU membership has become an international recognition of the activities aimed at the development of winter sports in our sunny country and will be a guarantee of new successes of Turkmen athletes in winter sports," said Meretdurdy Gochev, head of the Winter Sports Federation in Ashgabat.
There are two ice arenas in Ashgabat, and another sports facility designed for winter games is in Avaza.
The ISU is the largest international organization governing the skating sports: figure skating, speed skating and short track. It was founded in 1892. Today, 80 countries around the world are members of the organization.
