The winner of Turkmenistan's "Shining Karakum" rally was the team of the country's Interior Ministry. Six teams took part in the motorsport championship.
The length of the route was 115 kilometers, and the rally demanded full commitment from the pilots. The race started on the territory of Akhal velayat and finished in the village of Darvaza, where the burning gas crater, popularly called "gates of hell", is located. The route went through the Karakum desert.
Motorsport in Turkmenistan began to develop not so long ago, but in 2018 one of the largest rallies in Asia was held on the route of the Great Silk Road. Today, rally-raids are becoming more and more popular among Turkmen athletes, and motorists note the high complexity of the desert routes.
