The founder of the pioneer harmony movement, an outstanding art critic of our time and talented teacher at the Turkmen National Conservatory was the subject of a conference held in TNK to mark the 90th anniversary of Yuri Nikolayevich Kholopov.
All his life the musicologist-theorist has devoted his entire life to the tasks of research of musical art. His textbooks are handbooks for students of the Conservatory. They use them to prepare for classes in harmony, solfeggio, instrument studies, and the history of theoretical musicology.
The theory of modern composition developed by Kholopov as applied to national Turkmen music is comparable to scientific research in other areas of creative activity.
The leadership of TNK has carefully prepared the conference in memory of the great music teacher and theorist Kholopov, who left behind several hundred works and a dozen monographs.
For his services to the musical community, Kholopov was awarded the title "Man of the Year" at the insistence of the American Biographical Institute, and he also became a member of the European Academy.
