On January 26, Chairman of the Mejlis G. Mammedova signed a resolution on awarding the President of Turkmenistan and Commander-in-Chief of the country's Armed Forces, Serdar Berdymukhamedov, the military rank of general. The military rank of army general was conferred on the president of the country in accordance with Article 81 of the Constitution of Turkmenistan. This event was timed to coincide with the annual Defender of the Fatherland Day, which is celebrated in Turkmenistan on January 27 on the occasion of the formation of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan in 1992.
President Serdar Berdymukhamedov congratulated servicemen and officers of the military and law enforcement services on the holiday, wishing them good health, success in their responsible service, prosperity and long life.
