The strongest chess player of Turkmenistan among juniors under 20 years old is known

Azat Nurmammedov, 19, has become the undisputed champion at the recently concluded Open Championship of Turkmenistan among chess players under 20 years old. At the beginning of this year, the published FIDE rating of the Turkmen chess player was 2399. This is reported by the online publication "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age".

Azat Nurmammedov received the right to represent the country in 2023 at the world and continental competitions.

Ashgabat-born Amanmukhammet Khommadov, born in 2006, took the second place in the junior championship of Turkmenistan. Vepaly Khaliniyazov, born in 2005 in Lebap velayat, took the third place. In addition to the award for the third place, the chess player was given the opportunity to participate in the Open Championship of Turkmenistan Higher League, as Nurmammedov and Khommadov had already been selected to participate in this competition through other qualification tournaments.
