28-year-old grandmaster from Ashgabat won the championship

International Grandmaster from Ashgabat Maksat Atabaev became the champion of Turkmenistan for the sixth time. The chess player became the best in the completed tournament of the highest league. The competition was held for 14 days on a round robin system. This is reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".

The main struggle for the honorary champion title unfolded between Maksat and his brothers - Yusup and Saparmyrat. However, the rivals, alternately occupying the leading positions in the first half of the tournament, made a number of blunders by the finish.

As a result, 23-year-old Saparmyrat Atabaev took the 2nd line in the standings. Yusup Atabaev took the third place, having lost in the 11th round to FIDE master Azat Nurmammedov.

The victory of Maksat Atabaev at the championship of the highest league of Turkmenistan became the sixth in his sports career as a chess player.
