Turkmenistan celebrates Independence Day with ceremonial races of Akhal-Teke horses

The International Akhalteke Equestrian and Sports Complex today hosted celebrations dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence. This is reported by the news program Watan.

The celebration was attended by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, as well as government representatives, foreign diplomats and guests.

The central event was a horse race with the participation of the best riders on Akhalteke horses - the pride of the Turkmen people. There were 7 races with participation of horses of different ages. The races demonstrated the development of equestrian sport in the country and the commitment of the Turkmen people to the ancient traditions of horse breeding.

The celebration also included exhibitions of art works and museum exhibits dedicated to the Akhalteke breed and competitions in the national wrestling "Gorsh".

The President noted the importance of preserving unique Akhalteke horses as part of the national heritage and symbol of Turkmenistan. The celebrations once again demonstrated the country's pride in its horse breeding traditions.
