A chess tournament among players over 50 and 65 years old was held in Turkmenistan

The national chess championship among players of 50 and 65 years old was held in Turkmenistan on the basis of the specialized chess and chess school in Ashgabat from 21 to 26 July. This is reported by the Internet edition "Türkmenistan habarlar portaly".

In the category from 50 years old the first lines of the tournament table were occupied by the head coach of the physical culture and sports club of disabled people of Ashgabat and Akhal province Master of Sports A. Atabaev and the coach of the capital's specialized chess and draughts school FIDE Master S. Bayramsahedov, having scored 7.5 points out of 9. FIDE Master M. Chommiev rounded out the top three.

In the age category over 65 years old, the first place was taken by candidate master of sports from Mary velayat, 75-year-old H. Mailiev. Chari Sultanov, a 79-year-old chess player from Lebap, took second place, and M. Yakubov, a 71-year-old chess player from Dashoguz velayat, took third place. Among women 50+ the winner was the head coach of Lebap velayat G. Ovlyakuliyeva. The winners will represent Turkmenistan at the World and Asian championships among veterans.
