Ashgabat, June 20 - Arzuw.news. The Embassies of Russia and Belarus in Turkmenistan organized a joint screening of the war film "In August '44" at the Ashgabat Cinema. The event was timed to the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow on June 22 in connection with the 84th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, Arzuw.news reported.
Russian Ambassador Ivan Volynkin said that the demonstration of the painting in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory is a tribute to the courage of the ancestors. The Russian diplomat emphasized the importance of preserving the truth about the war and the price paid by the Soviet people for the victory.
Ambassador of Belarus Stanislav Chepurnoy pointed out the inadmissibility of falsifying the truth about the Victory and rewriting history. The Belarusian diplomat noted the duty of the heirs of the victors' generation to protect the historical truth and the memory of the heroism of their ancestors.
The movie was directed by Mikhail Ptashuk and based on the novel by Vladimir Bogomolov at the Belarusfilm studio. The joint event of the two embassies emphasized the importance of preserving the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War.
