Turkmenistan reaffirmed its environmental commitment at a forum in the Altai Republic

Gorno-Altaisk, July 25 - Arzuw.news. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev took part in the International Environmental Forum in the Altai Republic, where he reaffirmed the country's commitment to the principles of environmental diplomacy and sustainable development. In his speech, the Turkmen representative noted the republic's active participation in key international environmental agreements, including the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Paris Climate Agreement, the UN Convention to Combat Desertification and CITES.

Atagulyev presented impressive results of Turkmenistan's environmental activities over the past twenty years. Over 162 million trees have been planted in the country within the framework of environmental initiatives, which demonstrates the scale of the state programs on greening the territory.

The network of specially protected natural territories of the republic has significantly expanded. Currently, it includes 9 reserves and 16 wildlife sanctuaries, which indicates a systematic approach to biodiversity conservation.

Special attention in the speech was paid to water-saving technologies that are actively introduced in the country. Turkmenistan advocates rational use of transboundary water resources in the region.

The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers recalled that in 2025 Turkmenistan celebrates the 30th anniversary of the status of permanent neutrality. The country reaffirmed its readiness to deepen international environmental partnership and joint search for sustainable solutions to global environmental problems.
