The volume of trade turnover between Russia and Turkmenistan in January-March 2025 increased by 21.4%, which indicates high rates of development of trade and economic relations between the countries.
This became known during the meeting of the co-chairmen of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation held at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Turkmenistan was represented by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers N. Atagulyev, the Russian side was represented by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin.
The Deputy Head of the Russian Government thanked the Turkmen side for participation in KazanForum, emphasizing the participation of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The parties are working on an intergovernmental action plan for 2025-2027 aimed at increasing mutual trade. During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in trade, industry, energy, agriculture, culture and education.
Special attention was paid to the development of new transportation routes. They considered the directions through Turkmenistan to China, the Volga-Caspian Canal project with access to the port of Turkmenbashi, as well as the route "Eastern Caspian Bypass" within the framework of the international transport corridor "North-South".
The participants of the meeting noted the importance of reviving the tradition of holding cultural exchange events as a significant component of Russian-Turkmen relations.
