Turkmen judoka Kyakilik Deryayeva won bronze at the Asian Cup

Almaty, July 5 - Arzuw.news. Fifteen-year-old Turkmen judoka Kyakilik Deryayeva won a bronze medal at the Asian Cup among cadets, which was held in Almaty. Arzuw.news reports with reference to the International Information Center of Turkmenistan.

The student of Ashgabat secondary school #37 competed in the weight category up to 48 kilograms, where 25 athletes from five countries competed for awards. This medal was the first significant international award for the young judoka.

On her way to the podium, Deryaeva scored four victories. She defeated Sarvinoz Abdusamadova of Uzbekistan and Khongorzul Ariunzorig of Mongolia in preliminary bouts. After losing in the quarterfinals to Uzbek athlete Nargiza Dustmamtova, the Turkmen judoka continued her fight in the consolation tournament.

In the consolation bouts, Kyakilik first defeated Zarnigor Ulashova of Uzbekistan and then defeated Kazakhstan's Zlata Schweigert in the final battle for the bronze medal.

Deryayeva has been practicing judo since 2019 and has been training under the guidance of Gulbadam Babamuratova and Turkmenistan women's national team head coach Tatyana Vidyasova.

The Asian Cup in Almaty gathered 788 athletes from 11 countries. The team of Turkmenistan was represented at the tournament by 31 judokas.
