Astana, July 19 - Arzuw.news. Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan took part in a regional seminar of the World Customs Organization, which was held in the capital of Kazakhstan from 8 to 11 July. This is reported by the publication Turkmenistan: Golden Age.
The event was organized within the framework of the Central Asia and Caucasus Security Project with the support of the Government of Japan. The seminar was attended by representatives of customs administrations from eight countries in the region.
The main objective of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation between the Central Asian and Caucasus States in combating the illicit movement of small arms, light weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles across borders.
The seminar participants discussed topical issues of strengthening inter-agency co-operation in the area of security. Special attention was paid to the coordination of regional exchange of experience between the customs services of the participating countries.
The CCASP project aims to improve the effectiveness of the region's customs authorities in countering cross-border security threats.
