Ashgabat, July 19 - Arzuw.news. The Russian House in Ashgabat hosted a solemn event dedicated to the International Chess Day, which was organized by the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan. This is reported by the publication Turkmenistan: Golden Age.
The central event of the holiday was a simultaneous game session on 40 boards, which was conducted by Mergen Kakabaev - Secretary General of the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan, head coach of the men's national team and FIDE master. The event was attended by children from 7 years old and older.
The participants were welcomed by the Chairman of the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan, Vepa Myalikgulyev, who noted the importance of popularizing chess among the younger generation. The program included a training session "Learn to Play Chess in 30 Minutes", a master class "Chess Lifehacks" and practical tips on developing tactical thinking.
This is the second year in a row when the Chess Federation of Turkmenistan holds such an event at the Russian House as part of popularization of the ancient game among children.
International Chess Day has been celebrated since 1966 on the initiative of the International Chess Federation FIDE, which was founded on July 20, 1924 in Paris. Today this holiday is celebrated in 178 countries of the world under the auspices of UNESCO and FIDE.
