Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to launch trade zone by the end of 2025

Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan plan to launch a border trade zone "Shavat - Dashoguz" by the end of 2025. This was agreed upon by Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during talks at the Congress Center of the National Tourist Zone "Avaza". The trade turnover between the two countries has already reached 700 million dollars since the beginning of this year. Since February 2025, a free trade regime has been in force between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, which contributes to the intensification of economic cooperation.

At present, trade houses operate in the capitals of both countries, which contribute to the development of bilateral trade and economic relations. The parties are actively implementing joint projects in industry, energy, transportation, agriculture and water management.

The leaders emphasized the importance of regular meetings of intergovernmental commissions and the work of the Business Council for deepening cooperation. The agenda of the upcoming Seventh Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia was also discussed during the meeting.
