Turkmen karate players won two bronze medals at the Asian Championship in China

Turkmen athletes won two bronze medals at the 23rd Asian Karate Championship among cadets and juniors under 21, which was held in the Chinese city of Shaoguan. Arzuw.news reports with reference to Turkmenistan: Golden Age.

The competition was organized by the Asian Karate Federation WKF in Guangdong province with the participation of 498 athletes from 30 countries. The World Karate Federation unites 200 countries and is the only organization of this sport recognized by the International Olympic Committee.

The national team of Turkmenistan was represented at the tournament by eight athletes, two of whom reached the podium. The first bronze medal was won by Gurbannazar Amandurdyev, an 11th grade student of secondary school No. 16 in Ak Bugday etrap of Akhal province, in kumite among juniors 16-17 years old in the weight category up to 55 kilograms.

The second bronze medal went to Garamammet Garamamammedov, a second-year student of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction, in the kumite among athletes under 21 in the weight category up to 60 kilograms.

Both karate athletes train in the national team under the guidance of head coach Aidyn Chariev, a 5-dan black belt. At the previous Asian Championship in Manila, Turkmen athletes won three bronze medals thanks to the performances of Alymukhammet Kakalyev, Magtymguly Annaev and Davut Nazmyradov.
