UNDP and UNIDO organized environmental events in Turkmenistan

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) have organized a series of environmental events in Ashgabat, timed to coincide with the World Day for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, which is celebrated today. The initiative aims to raise awareness among the younger generation about the importance of protecting the ozone layer and global climate challenges.

The educational campaign kicked off on September 11 at School No. 55, where a session on "Preserving the Ozone Layer and Climate" was held. The event included an interactive quiz and symbolic tree planting.

On September 15, School No. 15 held an interactive session on "Ozone layer protection and climate change". Pupils actively participated in the quiz and exchanged ideas on environmental topics.

The final event was held today at the Yagshygeldy Kakaev International University of Oil and Gas. Lectures and discussions were organized for students and teachers.

Special attention during the events was paid to Turkmenistan's contribution to the implementation of international environmental agreements, including the Montreal Protocol and the Tehran Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea.

The campaign was part of a joint effort by UNDP and UNIDO to raise environmental awareness and engage the young generation of Turkmenistan in the fight against climate change.
