Turkmenistan and Russia discuss strategic ties

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 7, according to the news site Asmannews.

During the conversation, the President of Turkmenistan congratulated Vladimir Putin on his birthday, wishing him good health and success, and emphasized the strategic importance of bilateral relations based on equality and mutual respect.

Vladimir Putin thanked for the congratulations and noted Serdar Berdimuhamedov's personal contribution to strengthening cooperation between the countries, conveying warm wishes to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The parties noted the successful development of interaction in various spheres and active cooperation with Russian regions. Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited Vladimir Putin to take part in the Forum of the International Year of Peace and Trust, which will be held on December 12 in Ashgabat.

The Russian President thanked for the invitation and emphasized the importance of Turkmenistan's policy of positive neutrality for stability in the region.

At the end of the conversation the sides exchanged good wishes and noted the friendly nature of relations between the countries.
