Ankara calls for deeper integration of Turkmenistan into the Turkic world

In a recent Interview Turkish Ambassador to Ashgabat Ahmet Demirok outlined the key areas of development of Turkish-Turkmen relations. Special attention was paid to energy cooperation and Turkmenistan's integration into regional structures.

The diplomat stressed Ankara's interest in Turkmenistan's full membership in the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA). This aspiration is conditioned not only by cultural and historical ties, but also by Turkmenistan's strategic position in Central Asia.

In the energy sector, Demirok noted the prospects of Turkmen gas supplies to Turkey and Europe. Ambitious plans to transport up to 15 billion cubic meters of gas annually through the Caspian Sea are being discussed. This could become a significant step in the diversification of energy routes in the region.

The Ambassador also emphasized the role of Turkmenistan in the development of the East-West transport corridor. Turkmenbashi port is considered as an important hub in the system of international transportation linking China and Europe.

Analyzing the Ambassador's statements, one can conclude that Turkey has a comprehensive approach to the development of relations with Turkmenistan. Ankara seeks not only to strengthen bilateral ties, but also to integrate Turkmenistan into broader regional processes. This may contribute to strengthening Turkey's geopolitical influence in Central Asia and creating new economic opportunities for both countries.
