Chinese foreign minister urges Central Asia, including Turkmenistan, to help consolidate peace in Afghanistan

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi appealed to the states of the Central Asian region, including Turkmenistan, for assistance in advancing a peaceful political and diplomatic settlement of the Afghan issue. Wang Yi made this appeal during the the second ministerial meeting of the CA-PRC format.

The Chinese minister noted that the withdrawal of foreign contingent from Afghanistan should be carried out responsibly so that the implementation of the peace process is not disturbed by haste.

The Chinese foreign minister stressed that peace building should be organized by Afghans themselves, and the country's leadership should create political mechanisms to ensure the participation of all involved groups and parties in building the future Afghan political life. According to the Chinese diplomat, the management structure of the state should be based on national characteristics, rather than copying foreign examples.

It should be reminded that assistance in peaceful regulation of the Afghan issue is one of the key vectors of Turkmenistan's foreign political activity. Our country is implementing a program of assistance to its neighbors in 2020-2022. In addition, Turkmenistan is carrying out infrastructure projects with the participation of Afghanistan: TAPI gas pipeline, TAP power transmission line and others. These projects must contribute to the establishment of social and living conditions for the population of the neighboring state. At International Oil and Gas Investment Forum In Ashgabat yesterday, Ajmal Ahmadi, acting head of the Afghan Central Bank, said that Afghanistan may start the construction of TAPI on its territory as early as 2021.
