Heads of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan confirmed desire to develop cooperation

How we wrote earliern January 21, President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov of Turkmenistan met online with President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan. The leaders discussed the current situation and prospects for further development of bilateral relations in all key aspects of the life of the state.

Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan named cooperation on the Caspian Sea as a particularly important area of partnership. In this area, a number of regulatory documents were concluded with regard to both bilateral and multilateral partnership. As a result, the heads of the Turkmen and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministries present at the meeting signed a Memorandum of Understanding regulating joint activities on the development of the "Dostluk" hydrocarbon field located in the Caspian Sea.

The two leaders also touched on cooperation within international and regional structures, noting that the two countries intend to strengthen universal peace, security and stability. The Turkmen leader thanked his Azerbaijani counterpart for supporting his country's initiatives to strengthen international peace and stability. Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov also noted that Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement has been very effective.

The heads of state confirmed the desire for further development and strengthening of friendly relations, which are based on respect and trust in each other, as well as on common historical, spiritual and cultural values of the two brotherly peoples.
