Celebrations on the occasion of Cosmonautics Day were held in Ashgabat

On April 12, Ashgabat hosted solemn events to celebrate the International Day of Aviation and Astronautics. This is reported by Centralasia.news online edition.

A flower-laying ceremony was held at the monument of the world's first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, located on the territory of the Russian Embassy. The event was attended by diplomatic mission staff, representatives of government agencies, media, public figures, schoolchildren and students.

On the occasion of the holiday, the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent congratulations and best wishes to the Russian cosmonaut, native of Turkmenistan Oleg Kononenko. First Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan Yulia Zaitseva congratulated everyone on Cosmonautics Day.
