In Lebap velayat of Turkmenistan, silk growers have already handed over 1060 tons of cocoons to the receiving points of the production association "Lebapwelaŷatŷüpek", which exceeds the plan by 50 tons according to contractual obligations. This is reported in the newspaper "Neutral Turkmenistan".
In total, more than 21 thousand silk growers were engaged in cocoon production this year in Lebap velayat, among which more than 25 thousand boxes of caterpillars were distributed. In parallel to cocoons production, farmers grow wheat and cotton, so during this period it was especially important to create optimal conditions for the production of valuable raw materials.
Mulberry seedlings were planted in time to provide a fodder base. Success in cocoon production was also ensured by maintaining proper conditions: air temperature and humidity. Much attention was paid to the sanitary condition of the premises and pest control.
Lebapwelaŷatŷüpek specialists supported the farmers in caterpillar care with advice and practical skills.
