A seminar on countering illicit drug trafficking was held in Turkmenistan

The OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, together with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, organized and conducted a two-day regional training seminar on combating illicit trafficking in narcotic and psychotropic substances. More than 100 officers of specialized agencies from five Central Asian countries took part in the event in offline and online formats. This was reported by the OSCE Center in the capital of Turkmenistan.

In his opening speech at the seminar, John MacGregor, Head of the OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to combating trafficking in drugs and psychoactive substances, which requires international and interregional co-operation.

During the event, experts from Turkey, Italy and the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Center shared their experience on the issue. The seminar was aimed at enhancing international cooperation and developing new mechanisms in the fight against narcotic substances.
