Avaza, August 8 - Arzuw.news. The final plenary session of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries with the participation of dignitaries, representatives of international organizations, private sector and civil society was held in the National Tourist Zone of Avaza. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The agenda reviewed the results of the forums and roundtables, as well as the draft Awazi Political Declaration and the Awazi Action Program 2024-2034.
The participants discussed the reports of thematic round tables on trade facilitation, modernization of transport and energy infrastructure, investment attraction, adaptation to climate change, high technology and innovation.
The draft Awazi Political Declaration, which identifies concrete measures to improve transport infrastructure, trade development, climate change adaptation and institutional capacity building, was considered. The report of the Conference with main outcomes and recommendations was also approved.
UN Under-Secretary-General Rabab Fatima expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Turkmenistan for the high level of organization of the event and thanked President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for his personal participation.
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov noted that landlocked developing countries have demonstrated the ability to overcome geographical obstacles through political will and multilateral cooperation.
The Awazi Agenda for Action envisages modernizing the transport and transit system, diversifying economies, digital transformation, building climate resilience and attracting investment. The Awazi Political Declaration reaffirms the commitment to realize the 2030 Agenda and to ensure the integration of landlocked countries into the global economy.
The official closing of the Conference marked the beginning of a new phase in the implementation of the Awazi Agenda for Action at the national and global levels.
