A plant for production of glycyrrhizic acid has been launched in Turkmenabat city. This is reported by the Internet edition "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age."
The production capacity of the new plant will allow processing 4,500 tons of licorice root per year (raw material for production) into 390 tons of pure glycyrrhizic acid, which is in demand in both domestic and foreign markets. The new plant is subordinate to the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and is part of the Buýan agro-industrial complex.
Glycyrrhizic acid is widely used in pharmacology because it has anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties and also inhibits viruses such as herpes, Varicella-Zoster and cytomegalovirus.
The successes of the country's pharmaceutical industry contribute to the strengthening of the economy, which has a positive impact on improving the quality of life of the population.
