In Turkmenistan artifacts have been found that speak about the high level of development of ancient cities

Archaeological excavations on the territory of Dashoguz province have revealed facts indicating a high level of economic development of ancient cities and settlements. This is reported by the Internet edition "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age."

Recently excavated jugs, hums, remains of clay water pipes, and samples of terracotta linings testify to the development of pottery. On the territory of the present-day Kunyaurgench Reserve, jugs for chigir - a structure for lifting water, representing a wheel with buckets - were found. This indicates a developed agricultural industry.

Chigir was used to irrigate high lying lands, gardens and parks. There is an assumption that the produced chigir jugs were sent for sale by the Great Silk Road. Scientists also conclude that the development of pottery was the impetus for the improvement of the Khorezm architectural style.
