The Ministry of Education, the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh and UNICEF accumulated their efforts to carry out an educational mission to familiarize children with the existing rights of the child and with the rights of persons with disabilities. To this end, interactive sessions were held with children vacationing in Turkmenistan's summer camps.
During the lessons, children learned about the Conventions on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The children learned about important provisions of current national legislation, got acquainted with the concept of an inclusive environment, and learned about the basic principles that allow for the observance of children's rights - non-discrimination, development, survival, participation, etc.
UNICEF has been taking steps over the past 6 years to raise children's awareness of the provisions of the CRC. In 2022, 270 Turkmen children took part in interactive classes.
