Qualifying rounds of the national teams for the Summer Olympic Games continue.
In early February, seven Turkmen weightlifters were awarded seven medals at the International Olympic Solidarity Games in Tashkent. The national team is currently preparing for the Asian Championship in weightlifting, which will be held April 16-25 in Tashkent. This competition will determine the Asian athletes who will be eligible to participate in Tokyo 2020.
On March 3, a qualifying round will be held in the Jordanian capital Amman for boxers from the Asian region and Oceania to take part in the Olympic Games. Turkmen boxers will compete in five weight categories. Among men Yakyp Meredov will act in 57 kilos weight category, Shukur Ovezov - in 63 kilos, Sanjar Sapaev - in 69 kilos, Nursahat Pazzyev - in 75 kilos, Nuryagdy Nuryagdyev - in 81 kilos. For athletes from Asian and Oceania region 63 tickets to Tokyo 2020 were allocated. Along with the competition in Amman, tickets will be given to the actual participants at the Boxing World Olympic Qualifier in Paris in May.
In March, there will also be a qualifying competition in 3×3 basketball, for which medals will be awarded for the first time this summer. The Turkmen women's team will compete in Bangalore, India, from March 18-22. The Turkmen girls, who will meet in a group with the national teams of Iran, Ukraine, Japan and Australia, will compete for the 3 places allocated for the Olympic Games.
In Tokyo, along with the athletes, the cameras will show their strength. Journalists will also fight among themselves, who will capture in photos every moment of the sports event lasting 25 days (together with the Paralympic Games).
Last September, Nikon announced that it was working on a new digital SLR model D6, sharing photos of it. On February 12, the company introduced the D6 to the public. The new unit, with its increased number of focal points, does a great job shooting sports events. The D6 camera allows you to adjust the focus to 105 individual points. The device is also capable of shooting 14 frames per second.
The further processing of photos is also optimized. The speed of the device's built-in 1000BASE-T wired LAN is 15 % faster than that of the D5 model. This is one of the most important problems for photojournalists who want to instantly post photos from important events.
Golden partner of Tokyo 2020 Canon, in turn, released its latest flagship EOS-1D X Mark III in January this year. The new device is equipped with the Digic 8 processor allowing to use 191 focal points. The EOS-1D X Mark III, designed for high-speed shooting of sports and informative events, is expected to be used at the Olympic Games.
DSLRs are taking the lead in sports journalism, but mirrorless technology has also begun to take hold. On February 13, Canon announced that it was working on the EOS R5 mirrorless camera. The company also announced that it would release 9 R-line lenses along with mirrorless cameras during this year. Demonstration of EOS R5 camera and 100-500 millimeter RF lens is expected on February 27 at CP+ exhibition in Yokohama city in Japan.
The camera lens is one of the main factors that "determines the winner" at sporting events. Mirrorless cameras at megapixel power offer the ability to take sharper photos, but because of their small size and fewer lenses, they are expected to continue to be on the back burner at summer games.
Perhaps one of the unexpected players at Tokyo 2020 will be Sony, which added a 600mm lens to its mirrorless family last year.
Which camera will win the gold medal at Tokyo 2020?
All we have to do is wait.
