Consul General of Turkmenistan in Iran Ilyas Gayypov met with newly appointed head of UNHCR branch in Mashhad Dhananjaya Bhattarai on October 24. This was reported by the Internet edition "Westiabad."
During the meeting, the Turkmen side expressed its firm intention to continue and expand cooperation with the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
The participants of the meeting noted the successful implementation of the IBELONG campaign of the organization to eradicate statelessness in the world. Turkmenistan's experience in this sphere can become an example for other countries.
The Head of the UNHCR Office in Iran praised the work carried out in Turkmenistan to completely eradicate statelessness in the country. In addition, the meeting focused on the issues of migration policy in the region and introduction of international humanitarian law into legislation.
