The US is ready to stimulate investment in Turkmenistan's economy

During a press briefing held in Ashgabat on September 5, 2024, the new U.S. Ambassador to Turkmenistan Elizabeth Rood outlined key areas of cooperation between the two countries. Arzuw.news correspondent reports. After meetings with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and other high-ranking officials, Ms. Rood identified four main vectors for the development of bilateral relations.

The fight against climate change became a priority. The Ambassador welcomed Turkmenistan's accession to the global commitment on methane, emphasizing the importance of this step for the world community.

The second key aspect is the development of the economic sector. The U.S. plans to assist in creating new jobs and diversifying Turkmenistan's economy, which should contribute to the country's sustainable growth.

Security issues were also high on the agenda. Special attention will be paid to responding to emergencies, combating extremism and crime.

The fourth area was the promotion of fundamental freedoms. Ambassador Rood emphasized her intention to support the development of civil society in Turkmenistan.

The Ambassador also announced plans to expand ties between the peoples of the United States and Turkmenistan, which should strengthen mutual understanding and cultural exchange between the countries.

Elizabeth Rood concluded the briefing by reaffirming the U.S. commitment to support Turkmenistan's sovereignty and independence, emphasizing the importance of this partnership for both countries.
