In the period from March 30 to April 7, 2020 an international scientific expedition "In the footsteps of Al-Farabi" dedicated to the 1150th anniversary of one of the greatest representatives of the medieval Eastern philosophy - Al-Farabi will be held. The expedition is planned on the territories of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran. The expedition members will visit historical places where the outstanding philosopher of the East was born, reared, educated and worked. The expedition will include 54 people representing the scientific and academic sphere of Kazakhstan.
During the expedition's stay in Turkmenistan, Kazakh scientists will visit historical sites of ancient Merv, where Al-Farabi lived, studied and worked. Upon the expedition's arrival in Ashgabat, it is planned to organize an international scientific and practical conference "In the footsteps of Al-Farabi: Merv" with the participation of representatives of mass media, diplomatic corps, creative and scientific intellectuals of Turkmenistan. Kazakh and Turkmen scientists engaged in the study of Al-Farabi's heritage will speak at the conference.
International scientific symposium "Al-Farabi and world civilization" will be held in the capital of Kazakhstan on May 27, 2020 under the auspices of UNESCO, TURKSOY and ISESCO (Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) with the participation of leading Kazakh and foreign scientists, heads of universities and others. Also, Turkmen scholars of Farabi are planning to take part in the symposium.
It should be noted that this year an international conference dedicated to the heritage of Al-Farabi under the auspices of UNESCO, with the participation of the world's leading experts in the humanities, is scheduled to be held in Paris.
Al-Farabi's life is a unique example of striving for knowledge, understanding the world and the meaning of life. The wisdom of the great teacher is very relevant and has great meaning today.
