Representatives of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan discussed electricity supply. The meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and officials of the Afghan energy company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) was devoted to intensifying activities in the legal and technical areas related to power transmission projects. The first topic of discussion was the electricity transmission project from Turkmenistan via Afghanistan to Pakistan (TAP). The meeting was also attended by the Turkmen ambassador in Kabul, Khoja Ovezov.
The meeting took place in Kabul, at DABS headquarters. Hafiz Mohammad Amin, General Director of the company, called Turkmenistan a reliable partner of DABS in implementation of power projects. He also expressed the hope that the elaboration of the common Roadmap would contribute to the intensification of activities on implementation of energy projects, including the TAP project and construction of a power substation in Afghanistan.
Head of the Department of Interstate Electricity Projects of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan related to TAP Myrat Artykov, speaking about the purpose of this trip, noted that the primary task is to strengthen the mutual cooperation between the Turkmen Ministry of Energy and DABS. He added that successful implementation of such projects as TAP, power substation in Afghanistan and Andkhoy-Kabul power line is possible only in close cooperation with DABS.
The two sides will also hold a series of separate meetings during which they will discuss legal and technical aspects of the electric power projects. As a result, the negotiators will sign agreements with an appropriate focus.
