Staff members of the Library of the U.S. Congress arrived in Turkmenistan

Employees of the U.S. Library of Congress arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit to cooperate with the Makhtumkuli National Institute of Language, Literature and Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan to hold events aimed at preserving cultural heritage. This is reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".

The American delegation includes Department Head Yasmin Khan and Chief Conservation and Paper Restoration Specialist Tamara Ohanyan, as well as William Bradford Smith, one of the co-founders of the Merrion & Smith organization.

From April 23 to May 5 this year, students of the Makhtumkuli National Institute of Language, Literature and Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan will attend lectures to familiarize themselves with new methods of preserving cultural heritage.

The training program of American specialists includes lectures on restoration and conservation of Islamic manuscripts, material on the work of libraries of Congress. In addition, meetings will be held with representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, staff of libraries and museums.
