Turkmenistan and UNESCO discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in a wide range of areas. The discussion took place in an online meeting of the Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Chinar Rustamova with the Heads of the UNESCO Cluster Offices in Tehran and Almaty Svetan Svetkovsky and Kristina Pikkat. The meeting participants stated that Turkmenistan's interaction with UNESCO is currently at a high level. They also discussed current issues of cooperation and the work planned for the coming period. Among other things, they discussed a draft Memorandum on the partnership between the Government of Turkmenistan and UNESCO for the next three years, in the course of which the parties considered a plan of action.
The representative of Turkmenistan suggested deepening partnerships with UNESCO in a number of areas, including sports, statistics, digitalization and water management. It was noted in the conversation that the Turkmen authorities are concerned about improving the work in the above areas, as they play an important role in the stable development of not only the state itself, but also the region and the world.
Turkmenistan seeks to diversify and deepen partnership relations with UNESCO in a wide range of areas. The reason is the key role of this organization in preserving the world heritage of humanity, both in cultural and natural spheres. Turkmenistan intends to continue to actively contribute to such tasks, because many unique objects of the material and spiritual culture of the Turkmen nation are included in the representative list of UNESCO.
