Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan plan to simplify transport communication. This, as well as other ways to improve the bilateral partnership in this area were discussed at a regular meeting of the intergovernmental commission in Tashkent. This is reported by Sputnik Uzbekistan with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the parties expressed interest in the full launch of cargo transportation by road, as well as simplifying the requirements for the freight itself.
In addition, the two sides noted the need to develop transport corridors. The parties exchanged views on improving railway infrastructure and reducing prices in order to increase freight traffic between the two countries.
The Uzbek side noted the importance of transit through the Turkmenbashi international sea port and stated the need to develop cooperation in this area, given that it is of great importance to the region.
The Uzbek side also proposed to intensify work on organizing passenger transportation between the two countries. The sides agreed to intensify activities between the countries participating in the transport corridor Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman.
