Turkmenistan may create joint pharmaceutical production with Austria

Representatives of Turkmenistan and Austria continued online negotiations on the organization of joint pharmaceutical production. Another round was held with the assistance of the Turkmen Embassy in Vienna, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health of Turkmenistan and the Austrian-Turkmen Society. The meeting was attended by delegates of subdivisions of the Ministry of Health of Turkmenistan and heads of Austrian pharmaceutical companies Sigmapharm and DiproMed - Bernhard Wittmann and Christian Eder. The first round of negotiations in this area was held in January of this year.

This time, the heads of the Austrian pharmaceutical companies voiced more specific proposals, discussing in detail the steps for their implementation.

The Turkmen side was also represented at the online talks by TMT Consulting Group, a partner of the Austrian-Turkmen Society.

The Austrian businessmen presented their companies in detail, describing in detail the products they produce. The parties discussed steps to expand partnerships with each other in the field of health protection, among other things touching on the prospects of organizing joint production of pharmaceutical products.

The discussion also touched on the organization of supply of medicines, production of the above mentioned companies and provision of the list of documents required for registration of Austrian pharmaceuticals in Turkmenistan. Mainly it concerns prophylactics that can stop the spread of viral infections.

It should be noted that Sigmapharm already supplies a number of drugs registered with the Ministry of Health of Turkmenistan. However, Sigmapharm also has new offers for its Turkmen partners. For example, nasal spray Coldamaris+, according to Austrian clinical studies, is highly effective in suppressing viral infections by forming a protective layer on the nasal mucosa.

DiproMed works in two directions - it produces express-tests for presence of narcotic drugs in human organism and means for rapid infection-diagnostic testing to detect the whole list of viruses. Some DiproMed test systems have already been registered in Turkmenistan and the first lots have already arrived in the country. During this round of talks the sides discussed the possibility of supplying express tests to detect coronavirus and antibodies to it.
