Turkmen film "The Book" received a special prize at the festival in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan's Aktau successfully hosted the Gorkut Ata International Film Festival, which brought together filmmakers from Turkic countries. Directors, actors and producers from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Hungary and Kazakhstan took part in the event, which demonstrated cultural unity and desire for cooperation. About it reports MIC.

A special achievement for Turkmen cinema was the awarding of a special jury prize to the film "Kitap" ("Book"). The film, created by the Oguzkhan Turkmenfilm Association, was recognized for its deep disclosure of the theme of respect for spiritual heritage. Director Hekim Alovov screened the story of the same name by the classic of national literature Nurmurad Sarykhanov, telling about a hero who once exchanged a camel for a book and later refused to sell it for a lot of money, keeping it as a symbol of eternal values. The movie premiered in Ashgabat in 2024.

The festival also included a Film Summit of the TURKSOY countries, where the prospects of cooperation in cinematography were discussed. Sakhysalykh Bayramov, Deputy Chairman of the Oguzkhan Turkmenfilm Association, made a speech at the forum, emphasizing the importance of cinema as a spiritual heritage that should be passed on to future generations.
