At the September 8-11 session of the UNICEF Executive Board, the Programme for the next four years (2021-2025) was approved, which will be implemented in Turkmenistan.
The main goal of the 6th joint program with UNICEF is to support the Turkmen authorities in ensuring the implementation and protection of the rights of children, as prescribed by the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the relevant National Plan.
The program includes work in four key areas:
- The interests of children are the basis of management processes.
- Health, nutrition, child development.
- Child Welfare.
- Providing a quality education.
As noted at the session, it is especially important in a pandemic environment to provide every child with the opportunity for distance learning.
A. Ataeva, our country's representative to the UN in New York, confirmed Turkmenistan's focus on ensuring children's rights, including the productive joint work with UNICEF in this area.
It should be noted that the Executive Board, which has 36 members (including Turkmenistan), serves as the governing body of UNICEF.
