Turkmenistan to double electricity supplies to Afghanistan

80% of works on extension of 110 kV power transmission line from Turkmenistan to Herat city (Afghanistan) have been completed. After full completion of construction, the line will be connected to the Noorul Jihad substation, which will improve the energy infrastructure of the region and contribute to reliable and efficient supply of electricity to the population of Herat, the MIC reports citing information from representatives of Herat Electricity Company.

Turkmenistan is one of the largest electricity producers in Central Asia. Expansion of the transmission line will double the supply of Turkmen electricity to Afghanistan, from 110 kV to 220 kV.

Herat, as one of Afghanistan's main commercial and industrial centers, will have greater access to electricity, which will diversify local industry and attract investors to the region.

The extension of the power transmission line from Turkmenistan to Herat is a vivid example of cooperation between the two friendly countries. This cooperation will contribute to the further development of the economy and the strengthening of peace and security in the region.
