Turkmenistan wins bronze medal at CIS Games in Azerbaijan

Khangeldy Lukmanov brought Turkmenistan its first medal at the 3rd CIS Games by winning bronze in the boxing tournament. The pupil of Nursakhet Pazzyev's school competed in the weight category up to 52 kg, where nine athletes competed. This is reported by the Internet edition "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age."

The tournament path to the medal of the 16-year-old athlete began with a confident victory over Belarusian boxer Kirill Leichanka, but in the semifinals Lukmanov lost to the future champion - Azerbaijani Ali Abasli. Together with the Turkmen athlete, Uzbekistan's Bekzod Ismoiljonov won the bronze medal in this weight category.

A day before the end of the competition, the Turkmen national team with one bronze medal shares 8-10 positions in the medal standings with the teams of Pakistan and Turkey. A total of 1,624 athletes from 13 countries are participating in the CIS Games.
