A delegation of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan visited Latvia in order to exchange experience and study the practice of applying the transit procedure using different types of transport and the procedure of international road transportation. This is reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: The Golden Age."
The trip was organized by the Border Management Assistance Programme in Central Asia with financial support from the EU. Customs officers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan also participated in the study visit.
The delegates were organized visits to the central office of the National Customs Administration of the State Revenue Service of Latvia, the customs control point of the international airport "Riga", the border crossing point "Riga Free Port". Here the guests from Turkmenistan familiarized themselves with the procedures of general transit and TIR and the advantages of the simplified procedure.
