Head of the Directorate General for Transport and Mobility of the European Commission Maya Bakran held a meeting with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium and Head of Turkmenistan's Delegation to the EU Sapar Palvanov. This is reported by Orient news.
DG-MOVE provides guarantees that the transport policy is designed to respect the rights of all segments of the population. The Ambassador briefed M. Bakran on the initiatives and measures that Turkmenistan is taking in the transport sector, in particular, the implementation of the sustainable transport program. In addition, the Ambassador spoke about the upcoming opening of the country's first "smart" city Arkadag.
Palvanov proposed various options for strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU based on Turkmenistan's Transport Diplomacy Development Program.
The parties discussed promising areas of cooperation, including the training of personnel in the transport sector and the organization of a joint conference at the expert level between the CA countries and the EU.
