Turkmenistan Training Center received the status of WCO Regional Center

The Training Center under the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan was granted the status of a regional training center of the WCO

The Training Center under the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan has been officially recognized as a regional training center of the World Customs Organization (WCO). The corresponding Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Brussels during the 145th and 146th sessions of the WCO Council.

All 186 WCO member states unanimously supported the decision to grant the new status to the Turkmen center. The sessions were held from June 26 to 28 and were attended by the delegation of Turkmenistan headed by Chairman of the State Customs Service Maksat Khudaykulyev.

The new status will significantly expand the capabilities of the center. Now it will be able to provide training for customs officials not only in Turkmenistan but also in other countries of the region according to international standards. The program will include trainings, practical classes and scientific research with the participation of international experts.

During the visit, the Turkmen delegation met with WCO Secretary General Jan Sanders. The parties discussed prospects for further cooperation, including customs risk management, digitalization of customs processes and staff development.

Obtaining the status of WCO regional training center confirms the high level of development of Turkmenistan's customs system and its compliance with international standards.
