In Turkmenistan, at the foot of the Kopetdag mountain system, a unique hydroelectric facility will be built. The main task of the facility is to contain mudflows from the mountains and to form water reserves for irrigation from them. The water will be collected into a large reservoir, from which the adjacent fields will be irrigated.
The construction of a large-scale water intake facility was entrusted to "Miwe" JSC. The location of the unique object is Kaakhi etrap of the Akhal velayat. Representatives of the joint-stock company note that the hydraulic structure will perform two important functions at once - to protect residential buildings from descending mudflows and significantly increase the yield of crops grown in this area.
It is noted that this unique project has no analogues. The construction process is divided into four parts. At the moment only the first phase of the process is fully completed.
The reservoir is designed to store about 6.5 million cubic meters of water, and it will significantly reduce the load on other sources used to irrigate adjacent fields, such as water from the Amu Darya River.
When the hydrotechnical facility will be commissioned, gardens will be arranged on the territories of the surrounding farms and walnut and fruit trees will be grown. It is planned to provide auto-irrigation. In addition, JSC "Miwe" will be allocated a plot on which there will be a greenhouse. Bananas will be grown on it. It is also planned to equip reservoirs for water storage there.
