Turkmenistan and UNICEF engage the media to counter the spread of infections

A short press conference was held online in Turkmenistan on the possibilities of mass media in the fight against the spread of infections. The event was organized by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), WHO ERB, and the country office of the organization. Also, the role of mass media in promoting healthy lifestyles was discussed at the press conference. It was noted that Turkmenistan is implementing targeted steps to counter the spread of infections.

Ms. Christine Weygand, UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan, underlined that the event was aimed at increasing the effectiveness of preventive measures, including mass vaccination of Turkmenistan's citizens during the global pandemic.

A representative of the United Nations Children's Fund told the participants of the online press conference about new data on the pandemic and vaccination. She noted that Turkmenistan is not only successfully working to improve the quality of medical care based on WHO recommendations, but is also successfully expanding international cooperation on health protection and immunoprophylaxis programs.

This meeting is the fourth of its kind. It is organized in accordance with the national plan for Turkmenistan's preparedness to confront and take timely measures to prevent the spread of acute infections.

The press conference participants also learned about the main improved international practice and experience in the presentation of this topic. In addition, the current varieties of vaccines were listed and the stages of preparatory work among the population during mass vaccination were outlined.
