Ashgabat, July 4 - Arzuw.news. A two-day seminar was held in the capital of Turkmenistan from July 2 to 4 within the framework of a joint project of the UN Development Program and the Ministry of Finance and Economy on strengthening the institutional and regulatory environment for the development of financial markets. The event was attended by specialists from the relevant ministry and the Ashgabat Stock Exchange. UNDP International Expert Elena Andreeva presented key aspects of the securities market functioning, including financial instruments, types of securities, the structure of the accounting system, as well as the activities of depositories and registrars.
The central issue of the discussion was the draft program for the development of the securities market of Turkmenistan until 2030 and the plan of practical measures for its implementation. The UNDP expert also held individual consultations with representatives of the Ministry and the stock exchange, presenting the results of work on improving national legislation in this area.
The project is aimed at developing the legislative framework, preparing a strategy for securities market development, building an effective institutional structure and establishing a depository system. This initiative demonstrates a long-term partnership between UNDP and national structures to strengthen the institutional and regulatory framework of the country's financial system.
