A meeting on adaptation to climate change was held in Ashgabat

The Turkmen capital hosted a meeting organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, UNDP and GEF to develop a model of Turkmenistan's adaptation to climate change. This was reported by the Internet publication "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".

This workshop is the fifth in a series of interagency consultations on climate change adaptation. The Main Department of Civil Defense and Rescue Works of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan and representatives of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan are involved in the development of the adaptation model.

Nicholas Bishop of the Disaster Risk Reduction Program of the IOM Department of Operations and Emergency Management joined the meeting in an online format. The meeting concluded with a proposal to strengthen interagency cooperation on environmental security issues.
